Girls Should Not Have to Work Out Like Dudes
Share
Girl. Let’s be real.
A lot of workout advice feels like it was made for men.
Lift heavier. Push harder. Go until you cannot move. Wake up at 5 a.m. Never miss a day. If you are not dripping in sweat, apparently it did not count.
But girls are not just smaller dudes.
We can lift heavy. We can build muscle. We can train hard. That is not the point.
The point is that our bodies, energy, goals, and daily lives can be different. So why are we all expected to follow the exact same workout routine?
Stop Comparing Yourself to Men at the Gym
Men are usually naturally stronger in certain areas, especially their upper body.
That does not mean your workout is not working just because the guy next to you is lifting more.
Your progress is your progress.
You do not need to match his weight, his speed, or how many calories his watch says he burned.
The only person you should really compare yourself to is you.
Are you feeling stronger?
Are you moving more than before?
Are you becoming more consistent?
That matters way more than lifting the heaviest dumbbell in the room.
Your Workout Does Not Need to Feel Like Punishment
Fitness culture has made us believe a workout only counts if it hurts.
No pain, no gain.
Train until failure.
Go hard or go home.
Honestly, that mindset is probably why so many people keep quitting.
The best workout is not always the hardest one.
It is the one you can actually do again tomorrow.
A workout can still count even if it is short. It can still count if you are not soaked in sweat. It can still count if you enjoyed it.
You do not need to hate every second for it to be effective.
Your Energy Is Not Going to Feel the Same Every Day
Some days, you feel amazing.
You are motivated, energized, and ready to do everything.
Other days, you are tired, bloated, stressed, cramping, or simply not in the mood.
That does not mean you are lazy.
Women’s energy can change throughout the month, and life can change it too.
You do not need to force yourself to do the hardest workout every single day.
On high energy days, challenge yourself.
On low energy days, walk, stretch, use your hoop, or do something gentle.
Listening to your body is not making excuses.
It is learning how to stay consistent without burning yourself out.
Not Every Girl Wants to Train Like a Bodybuilder
Some women love lifting super heavy.
Amazing. Go for it.
But not every woman wants to spend two hours in the gym trying to lift the biggest weight possible.
Maybe you just want to feel better in your clothes.
Maybe you want a stronger core.
Maybe you want more energy.
Maybe you want to feel confident again.
Maybe you just want a workout that does not make you miserable.
Those goals are valid too.
You can be strong without making fitness your entire personality.
Low Impact Does Not Mean Pointless
A lot of women think workouts have to involve running, jumping, burpees, or painful gym machines.
They do not.
Walking counts.
Pilates counts.
Dancing around your living room counts.
Movement does not have to destroy your knees or hurt your back to be worth doing.
Sometimes the best way to get back into fitness is to choose something that feels easy enough to start.
You can always build from there.
Women Are Already Doing a Lot
A lot of women are working, taking care of family, keeping up with the house, answering messages, making appointments, planning meals, and thinking about everyone else all day.
Then fitness advice tells us we just need to be more disciplined.
Sometimes discipline is not the problem.
Sometimes the workout is just too complicated, too long, or too exhausting for real life.
You should not have to completely rearrange your day just to move your body.
Even ten minutes counts.
Ten minutes is better than waiting for the perfect one hour workout that never happens.
The Best Workout Is the One You Will Keep Doing
There is no perfect workout for every woman.
Some girls love lifting.
Some love Pilates.
Some love walking, dancing, cycling, or using a hoop at home.
The best workout is the one that feels good enough for you to keep coming back to.
That is why I love simple movement.
You can put on music, grab your SlimHoop™, and move for a few minutes without driving to the gym, learning complicated exercises, or feeling like everyone is watching you.
You are not moving because you hate your body.
You are moving because you care about yourself.
You do not need to work out like a dude to become stronger.
You do not need to punish yourself to make progress.
You just need to find something you actually enjoy enough to keep doing.
Because one crazy workout will not change everything.
But a small workout you keep coming back to can.
